Celebratory Retreat for Black Women in STEM (CR4BWS)
The goal of this event is to help empower Black female graduate students and undergraduates in the region to feel more welcomed and excited about contributing to the field of science. The CR4BWS retreat seeks to provide community support for Black Women in STEM to celebrate their contributions in their respective fields and to identify factors that promote and deconstruct their endeavors. Science Communication Training for Faculty, Postdocs, and Graduate Students
A team of experienced science communication training experts working with George Mason University and Stony Brook University are offering free science communication training workshops this spring at Michigan State University. The workshop will provide an immersive experience whereby participants will learn how to communicate with audiences about the value and importance of their work as well as science more generally. Participants will also receive financial compensation for participating. Learn more here.

BIPOC in Biotech Event
BIPOC in Biotech will bring together BIPOC PhDs and Postdocs across the Midwest with a variety of local life sciences organizations to build connections and community, give students an insider view into a breadth of career opportunities, and provide expert tips on how to market themselves and pitch their work for these potential career pathways. Weill Institute Emerging Scholars Symposium
The Weill Institute Emerging Scholars Symposium in Ithaca, NY, is a one-day event in October where exceptional senior Ph.D. students from institutions external to Cornell are invited to share their research with the Weill Institute community, celebrate their academic achievements, interact with students and faculty, and explore post-doctoral collaboration and research opportunities. Bailey Scholars Program Fellowship
All graduate fellows will be part of a learning community, where they will work together on a team research projects related to the Bailey Scholars program. These projects range in topic and scope, but all fellows get a unique experience in designing research projects, submitting to and attending conferences, and engaging in research project management activities. Future Academic Scholars in Teaching (FAST) Fellowship Program
The primary goals of this program are to provide opportunities for a diverse group of students to have mentored teaching experiences and gain familiarity with materials on teaching and assessment techniques during this academic year long program. This is for doctoral students with interests in teaching, learning, and assessment in higher education who are enrolled in programs associated with the Colleges of Natural Science, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Engineering, Social Science, Human Medicine, Nursing, Osteopathic Medicine, and Veterinary Medicine. Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Grant Competition
The Fulbright-Hays Act was designed to contribute to the development and improvement of the study of modern foreign languages and area studies in the US. This competitive grant program enables PhD candidates to do dissertation research abroad for 6 to 12 months. Awards typically provide airfare, maintenance allowance, research-related expenses, and more. Learn more here.
Bob Moses Scholarship
This annually awarded national scholarship is designed to support the educational goals of a graduate student from an underrepresented group who is pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in mathematics education or a STEM discipline. Wharton Center Has Free Ticket Offer for Students
Wharton Center for Performing Arts is pleased to offer free tickets to MSU undergraduate,
graduate, and professional students for several performances this spring semester,
including “The Boy Who Grew Flowers,” Imani Winds, The Okee Dokee Brothers, Cyrille Aimée, New York Philharmonic String Quartet, “Cross That River,” and “National Geographic Live: View from Above with NASA Astronaut Terry Virts.” There is a 2-ticket limit per event. to visit the Wharton Center ticket office in person with their MSU ID to receive free

In an effort to support students this semester, revised Credit-No Credit (CR-NC) grade reporting options are being put in place for Spring Semester 2023 only. MSU will return to the CR-NC policy listed in the Academic Programs Catalog effective Summer 2023. Learn more here.

Research Associate, Fixed Term — MSU
We are inviting applications for multiple postdoctoral positions in a cancer biology laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Michigan State University. Candidates competitive for these postdoctoral positions will be highly motivated, creative, and have interest in translational cancer biology. A qualified candidate is expected to have had outstanding graduate training, experience and/or training in mammalian cell culture, mouse tumor studies, molecular biology techniques, cell biology techniques, genome engineering techniques, and biochemical techniques. Instructor/Assistant Professor, Fixed-Term — MSU
The Biological Sciences (BioSci) Program at MSU is seeking two fixed-term faculty members to join the BioSci Program teaching team. The successful candidate for the first position will serve as curriculum coordinator and instructor for BS172, a large enrollment introductory organismal biology lab course designed for life-science majors. The successful candidate for the second position will serve as an instructor for introductory biology lecture and lab courses designed to actively engage life-science majors in three-dimensional learning and will work with teams of faculty to develop curriculum for these courses. Assistant Professor, Biochemistry — Southern Illinois University
The Department of Chemistry at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is accepting application packages for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will teach courses that support the Department of Chemistry and School of Pharmacy. Teaching assignments will incorporate biochemistry courses; laboratories and courses at both the undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) levels, including major and service courses in introductory chemistry; and courses for the School of Pharmacy. The successful candidate is expected to engage in scholarly work in any area of biochemistry, involve Chemistry students in their research program, seek external grants to support research, and produce scholarly publications.
