Anastasiya Lavell
Anastasiya did her PhD work in Dr. Christoph Benning’s lab studying the biogenesis of thylakoid membrane lipids. Her project focused on the characterization of a plastid localized rhomboid protease in Arabidopsis, RBL10. This work led to the discovery that RBL10 influences the composition of one of the major thylakoid lipids MGDG, likely by altering the trafficking of plastid synthesized phosphatidic acid. Anastasiya is continuing to develop her biochemistry skills as a postdoctoral researcher with Dr. Kristin Parent studying giant viruses.
