Kristen Gaffney
During her Ph.D., Kristen was a member of Heedeok Hong’s lab where research focuses on understanding membrane protein folding and degradation in the complex environment of the lipid bilayer. Her work led to the development of biochemical and biophysical techniques to quantitatively measure the thermodynamic and kinetic stability the intramembrane protease GlpG from E. coli, as well as study the conformation and dynamics of its unfolded state under native conditions. Kristen will be continuing her scientific career as an Associate Scientist in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics with Charles River Laboratories in Mattawan, MI.
