Meng-Lun Hsieh

Meng completed her PhD research under the guidance of Dr. Chris Waters and Dr. Deborah Hinton at the National Institutes of Health. Her research focuses on understanding how biofilm formation is regulated by two small molecules: c-di-GMP and phosphorylation. Using a combination of both biochemistry and microbiology approaches, Meng has discovered that these two tiny molecules impart large conformational changes at both the protein level and the DNA level within the activated transcription complex at various biofilm biogenesis promoters. Meng is now back in medical school and plans to pursue a residency in internal medicine and then a fellowship in infectious diseases.
